Enjoy some spin art fun with this hand mixer project! Recently I’ve seen some pretty amazing drill art and it got me thinking, I wonder if other spinning tools could be used to create some funky art, which led to the BAKERS SPIN Art.

This creative art activity uses the nifty baker’s tool, in a funky new way. It is so cool that you will never view the hand mixer in the same way again. So dust of that hand mixer and let’s get spinning!

How to create the baker’s spin art

What you need:
  • Hand mixer
  • Cardstock
  • Tape or sticky tack
  • Markers
How to:

This activity is very straightforward and focuses on testing and playing. You can follow the directions below or watch the video for a quick demonstration and instructions.

Step 1: Insert only 1 beater attachment to the hand mixer

Step 2: Attach a piece of cardstock to the beater using sticky tack or tape.

Step 3: Turn the machine on and get making! You can use markers, crayons, paint, or pencil crayons. Lightly touch the spinning paper with your colouring tool and watch the art come to life.

Note: This is an explorative activity so play around with the pressure and paper size as well as the tools you use to colour the paper.

    Let’s get creative:
    • Experiment with different types of colouring tools.
    • Experiment with the amount of applied pressure
    • Change how you move the marker
    • Hold the marker in place for different lengths of time.
    • Instead of attaching the paper in the middle, change its placement and trying making multiple spin arts on one piece of paper (that is how we got the two rings art)

Note: This activity requires adult supervision as all our activities do.

We really hope you have a spinning blast when trying out this funky baker’s spin art.  Happy spinning y’all!
